Blake and Katie met in 2005 in Haiti while working for separate non-profit organizations. They were married before the year was out and then spent the next three years living in Haiti and working at the Children of the Promise orphanage. They have four children and are fully invested in raising their family to love and follow Jesus wherever He calls.
Blake is a native Texan. Since returning from Haiti in 2008, he has started two successful small service companies in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Both companies provided landscaping, lawn maintenance, and tree services to residential and commercial customers. Blake’s passion is caring for woody, long lived, compartmentalizing perennials; also known as trees! He is an ISA Certified Arborist and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. More than anything else in the world, Blake feels that his purpose in life is tied to fulfilling the Great Commission. He loves the simplicity of the call, the example set by Jesus, and God’s desire to partner with ordinary people to redeem a broken world.
Katie was born and raised in Minnesota and is a graduate of the University of Northwestern - St. Paul. She has committed her life to serving the needs of children. Whether working as a nanny, elementary school teacher, field director for an orphanage, or serving in her church’s preschool and nursery, Katie has always just wanted to be where children are. Katie loves being with family and friends and drinking coffee, and depends on lots of it to homeschool her four kids. She loves Jesus with her whole heart, and her desire is for every child—young or grown—to know how valuable, loved, and accepted they are by Him, and to know the joy and peace that comes from a relationship with Him.
